The cysts associated with Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome are thin-walled, often lentiform in shape (lens-shaped), basilar predominant, and distributed in subpleural regions and abutting the mediastinum (Figure 5) (3).

Our patient’s findings are most consistent with lymphoid interstitial pneumonia (LIP). LIP often has thin-walled cysts that are typically few in number and most often seen in areas of ground glass.
