Syed Amer is currently a third year internal medicine resident at the Mayo Clinic Arizona in Phoenix. He is a prolific researcher and has published 34 papers in both national and international journals. His research interests include gastrointestinal motility disorders, hepatopancreatic biliary diseases, gastrointestinal malignancies, mechanisms and therapeutic strategies in inflammatory bowel diseases and irritable bowel diseases .He is interested in teaching and encourages medical students and his junior colleagues to actively participate in medical research to develop critical thinking. He also believes in giving back to the community and volunteers at free clinics during his free time.
